As you probably already know, sometimes we just have bad days. Well, I've had quite a few recently where I was really struggling to see the Lord in the midst of the situation, or in the midst of my day. Anyways, last Thursday was one of those days. I had been stressed, had trouble focusing, had heard some not-so-great news, and was just completely exhausted. The day had started out well, but soon fizzled, until my nerves were starting to unravel. to top it all off, it was midnight, and I couldn't sleep. In my desperation, I pulled out my journal and wrote this poem:
Only Him
Staring into the blackness
I take a step,
Softly, I reason with myself.
Don't go. You're loved.
I set my chin, willing myself
Not to cry
I can see nothing
But darkness
Again, I step into the emptiness
of my despair.
I'll stand firm
They won't ever know
My hurt.
Then I hear a voice gently calling
Calling me home.
Jesus, coming back for me.
I break,
I sob,
He's all I need.
That night, I cried myself to sleep. The next morning I woke up, tired, yet peaceful, knowing that the Lord was in control of the situation.
I realized that although I can't see how the Lord is working in the big picture, I can see Him in the small things - and He is worthy of my praise.
Psalm 126:3
Psalm 126:3
"The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad."
So yesterday, I smiled at the little things:
So yesterday, I smiled at the little things:
Do you think I look good as a redhead? :P
Anyways, to close, this is the verse that I have been thinking about this week:
Psalm 63:8
"My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me."
Clinging to Him,
With Love,
Marilla
